Gravelly is accessible by METRO on the Blue and Yellow lines at the National Airport. After you get off the train face the river - the park is at the end of the runways to your left. If you cannot tell where the river is please get back on the train.

By car

First, get to George Washington Parkway - which you can reach on I-66 or I-395. Either way it is right before you enter D.C. from Virginia.

Then: From South of the Airport: Heading north on GW Parkway (from Alexandria), Gravelly Point is the first exit after (and it is immediately after) National Airport.

From North of the Airport: You can only get to Gravelly Point from a northbound exit from GW Parkway. And so, from the North, heading southbound, you need to go past Gravelly point, and turn around (which is not as bad as it sounds). Two options are: (a) take the Airport exit and follow signs to Washington and/or GW Parkway North (b) continue on GW south until you reach Daingerfield Island, where you can turn around and head north Option (a) is faster, though option (b) is a little more straight-forward.
